Making Labs Work for Better Care
We’re the lab experts who believe physicians should stay in charge — not the system.
Simplifying the Work, Amplifying the Care
Medicine is a human craft. It’s the steady hand, the quick judgment, the call to the family with good news. It’s time with a worried parent. It’s the second look that changes a life.
Our mission is simple: Make it easier for doctors to be doctors.
We do that by making the lab—the quiet engine of modern care—work the way medicine deserves. So, attention goes to the patient, not the process. So clinical decisions arrive sooner. So, the day feels like medicine again.
We won’t try to be your everything. We make it easy to move from clinical intent to clinical action. We tune the lab and shoulder the administrative work, so results are clear, staff stay focused, and patients get better care. That’s the mission. The rest is craft.
Our Founding Story
David grew up in a house where the phone rang late. His dad was an OB-GYN. He saw the good: skill, trust, families changing. And he saw the hard: keeping a practice afloat while the rules kept shifting. The medicine stayed noble. The business got louder.
In college, David met Wade. They took different paths—David into medical practice, Wade into marketing. Years later, over coffee and a crowded whiteboard, they kept landing on the same problem: labs were being done to practices, not with them. Treated like a black box, they slowed care, scattered data, and buried clinicians in admin.
They started Phytest to build what they couldn’t find: a lab that lives inside the practice. The aim was simple—fix what’s broken without touching what’s sacred. That’s why we still care about the small things: keeping the clinical thread tight, carrying the unglamorous work of coding, claims, and denials. When those pieces hold, physicians get back the headspace to practice at their best, with a lab that quietly pulls its weight both clinically and financially.
Others sell parts; we own outcomes with one accountable team—clinical and financial in lockstep. That’s our category of one, and the values below are the code that keeps it true.
We’re wired for this work, and the hard problems don’t scare us—they hook us.
Call it obsession: we chase root causes, read the footnotes, and keep asking why until the path is clear. If you love the craft as much as the outcome, you’ll feel at home here.
Details decide outcomes.
Our precision lives in the unglamorous places—ordering logic, validation, documentation, coding, reconciliation—so small issues never become big ones. The result is care that reads clean and books that close clean.
Getting better isn’t an event; it’s our mastery in motion.
We experiment, learn, adjust, and repeat—relentlessly—because compounding improvements beat one-off heroics. The work gets quieter, the results get sharper, and the line from decision to action gets shorter.
And we start with people.
We design with humans in mind and build with them, not around them—clear roles, honest feedback, shared playbooks. When collaboration leads, solutions stick and the whole system gets stronger.
